Role Duties and Responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Field Telecommunications Engineer include, but are not limited to:
Survey & Solution Design
Conduct in-depth site surveys for complex telecommunications deployments, ensuring compliance with project scope, manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards.
Assess infrastructure for cabling, mounting, and connectivity feasibility in diverse environments (e.g. high-rise buildings, underground facilities, remote locations).
Generate detailed technical reports and solution designs for implementation teams.
Installation & Deployment
Lead and execute large-scale telecom installations, including fibre, coax, Ethernet, and RF systems.
Perform complex cable routing, termination, and network integration.
Deploy and configure equipment such as DAS, 5G small cells, WiFi access points, satellite modems, and bonded network solutions.
Ensure all installations adhere to strict safety protocols, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
Document installations thoroughly, including as-built schematics and technical reports.
System Testing, Commissioning & Troubleshooting
Conduct end-to-end testing and commissioning of telecom solutions, ensuring optimal system performance.
Diagnose and resolve network faults, RF interference, and connectivity issues using advanced troubleshooting tools.
Provide technical support and training to field teams and customers.
Decommissioning & Maintenance
Oversee the safe removal and return of equipment for reverse logistics or system upgrades.
Maintain rigorous upkeep of tools, test equipment, and company assets.
Assist in pre-deployment configuration, factory testing, and field logistics.
Skills
Extensive hands-on experience in deploying complex telecom solutions, including DAS, 5G, fibre networks, and satellite communications.
Mastery of structured cabling, including fibre optic splicing, RF cable termination, and network cabling.
Ability to lead field teams and oversee large-scale installation projects from start to finish.
Strong IT and networking knowledge, including IP networking, VLANs, RF propagation, and telecoms troubleshooting.
Certifications in telecom installation (e.g., iPaf, ECS, CSCS, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
Experience working at heights, with relevant safety and rigging certifications preferred.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure in challenging environments.
Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, including overseas assignments.

>10 years’ experience in Field Telecommunications Engineering
